Gaining Self-Assurance In Exploring A New Environment
It can be difficult and daunting to relocate for academic purposes, and this will be my first time living away from home. Although I am beginning to acclimate to the new environment and way of life, I am aware that it is natural to feel homesick and lonely.
I took a few images while exploring the new city's streets that gave me a sense of power. These images could be local landscapes, architecture and people. Whatever the theme, putting them on camera made me feel accomplished and served as a physical memento of my experience. In the future, looking back at the photos may also trigger pleasant memories and increase my awareness of how beautiful my new surroundings are. Overall, these images helped me feel more self-assured and a part of my new surroundings.
I was reminded that even though it occasionally feels overwhelming, I can be autonomous and confident in exploring the new environment after I saw a girl skating alone on the streets. However, witnessing this girl skate alone has motivated me to push myself and accept new difficulties. It also inspired me to value my freedom and rely on myself to find my way around an unfamiliar environment. Because of the confidence and resiliency this experience has given me, and I can now approach future events with a more upbeat and adventurous perspective.
The picture of the dried trees brought back feelings of loneliness or unease I was having in this strange feeling in this new city. On the other hand, it reminded me the green trees in India symbolised a sense of familiarity and comfort that I miss. I left my home and town to pursue my aspirations and seeing these plants brought back those memories.
Particularly for those who grew up when these boxes were ubiquitous on city streets, looking at a phone box may be a potent source of sentimental recollections. I saw the box and the coins I used to make calls, which reminded me of what I did as a child and my connections with family and friends. After seeing the phone box, I had a range of feelings, including nostalgia, longing, and a sense of wistfulness for a bygone period.
I found it relaxing and enjoyable to look at green trees. Green is frequently linked to peace, calm, and relaxation. Trees themselves are a representation of enduring strength, stability, and growth. I felt more attuned to nature and more grounded and at ease when lush trees surrounded me. This had a favorable effect on both my physical and mental health, lowering stress levels and elevating feelings of joy and well-being. I felt overall refreshed and renewed by the sensation of being surrounded by lush trees.
The experience of attending church on Sundays can be unique, special, and enjoyable for me. Because the spiritual and social connections I formed there have been exceptionally significant, and the atmosphere has been especially tranquil and friendly on Sundays than usual. The amazing architecture and artwork of the surroundings have also aided the uplifting experience.

It is an interesting observation and its recording. A conclusion would be great to add to discuss events/ activities, urban furniture, buildings, roads/paths, landscape and greeneries as different elements of urban design. Perhaps looking at Kevin Lynch or Jan Gehl books may help to categorise the critical thinking related to this observation.
